Applies to: WordPress Websites Hosted or Managed by True Synergy Networks
Difficulty: Beginner
Estimated Time: 5–10 minutes

Overview

WordPress is a website management platform that allows you to update pages, publish articles, upload images, and manage your website’s content.

If your organization uses True Synergy Networks for WordPress hosting or website management, you may have access to the WordPress administration dashboard.

The WordPress dashboard is the area where authorized users can manage their website without needing to write code.

This guide explains how to access your WordPress dashboard, sign in securely, navigate the administration menu, and resolve common login issues.

Before You Begin:

  • Make sure you have an active WordPress user account.
  • Have your assigned username or email address available.
  • Know your current password or approved Single Sign-On method.
  • Make sure your computer is connected to the internet.
  • Use a supported, updated web browser.
  • Know the domain name of the website you manage.

Important: WordPress account access is managed by True Synergy Networks or your organization’s authorized website administrator. If you do not have an account, contact TSN to request access.

Understanding the WordPress Dashboard

The WordPress dashboard is the administration area for your website.

It allows authorized users to perform tasks such as:

  • Edit website pages.
  • Create and publish blog posts.
  • Upload photographs and documents.
  • Organize website content.
  • Review comments, if enabled.
  • Update their user profile.
  • Manage other permitted website features.

The options you see depend on the permissions assigned to your WordPress account.

Important: Not every user needs full Administrator access. Your organization may assign an Editor, Author, or another limited role based on your responsibilities.

Step 1: Open Your Website’s Login Page

Option 1: Use the WordPress Administration Address

  1. Open Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, or another approved browser.
  2. Click the browser’s address bar.
  3. Enter your website address followed by /wp-admin/.
  4. Press Enter.

Example:

If your website is:

https://example.com

Your WordPress dashboard address is typically:

https://example.com/wp-admin

If you are not already signed in, WordPress normally redirects you to the login page.

Option 2: Use the WordPress Login Address

If the administration address does not open the login page, you may try: https://example.com/wp-login.php

Replace example.com with your actual website domain.

Important: Some websites use a customized login address or restrict access to the default WordPress login pages.

If neither address works, contact True Synergy Networks for the correct login address.

Security Tip: Bookmark your organization’s approved WordPress login page so you do not need to search for it each time.

Step 2: Enter Your WordPress Credentials

Once the login page opens, you should see a sign-in form.

Enter Your Username

  1. Locate Username or Email Address.
  2. Enter your assigned WordPress username or email address.
  3. Check the spelling.

Enter Your Password

  1. Locate the Password field.
  2. Enter your assigned password.
  3. Check that Caps Lock is not enabled.
  4. Confirm that there are no unintended spaces.

Important: Your WordPress password may be different from your Microsoft 365 or email password unless your organization has configured an approved SSO integration.

Step 3: Sign In

  1. Review your username and password.
  2. Click Log In.
  3. Complete any additional security verification if prompted.
  4. Wait for WordPress to open your dashboard.

If your login is successful, you should see the WordPress administration interface.

Note: If your organization uses Single Sign-On, the sign-in process may redirect you to Microsoft 365 or another approved identity provider.

Step 4: Complete Multifactor Authentication

Some WordPress websites require an additional authentication step.

Depending on your organization’s security configuration, this may include:

  • Microsoft Authenticator.
  • An approved authenticator application.
  • A supported passkey or security key.
  • Another organization-managed authentication method.

Complete Verification

  1. Review the authentication request.
  2. Confirm that you initiated the login.
  3. Enter the verification code or approve the request using the approved method.
  4. Wait for WordPress to complete sign-in.

Important: Never approve an unexpected authentication request.

If you cannot complete the verification process, contact True Synergy Networks.

Important: Administrator access should be limited to authorized personnel.

Editor

An Editor can generally manage and publish website content, including content created by other users.

Author

An Author can generally write, edit, and publish their own posts.

Contributor

A Contributor can generally write and edit their own posts but cannot publish them independently.

Subscriber

A Subscriber typically has limited access, such as managing their own profile.

Note: WordPress plugins, custom roles, and organization policies can change the permissions associated with these roles.

True Synergy Networks can help determine the appropriate access level for your responsibilities.
