  2. Visit https://mail.google.com.

What Happens After You Change Your Password?

Changing your Google Workspace password may affect other applications and devices connected to your account.

Gmail:

You may be asked to sign in again using your new password.

Google Drive:

Google Drive for desktop or mobile may request updated sign-in verification.

Google Calendar:

Your calendar may temporarily stop synchronizing in certain applications until you sign in again.

Mobile Devices:

Your iPhone, iPad, or Android device may request that you verify your Google account again.

Third-Party Applications:

Some applications connected to Google Workspace may need to be reauthorized.

Important: Changing your Google Workspace password does not necessarily change your computer’s Windows or Mac login password. If your organization uses Single Sign-On, account behavior may differ.

How to Create a Strong Password

A strong password helps prevent unauthorized access to your Google Workspace account.

Recommended Password Practices

  • Use a unique password for your Google Workspace account.
  • Prefer a long password or passphrase.
  • Avoid predictable patterns and commonly used passwords.
  • Do not include your name, company name, birthday, or easily guessed information.
  • Never reuse your Google Workspace password on personal websites.
  • Use a trusted password manager, such as Keeper Security, if provided by your organization.

Example of a Passphrase Format:

A long combination of unrelated words can be easier to remember while remaining difficult to guess.

Important: Do not use example passwords from articles or websites as your actual password.

Note: Your organization’s Google Workspace security policies may enforce additional password requirements.

Troubleshooting
