Overview
Keeper Password Manager includes recovery features that can help you restore passwords, records, and other information that was accidentally deleted or changed. If you delete a record by mistake, it may be available in Deleted Items, where it can be restored to your vault. Keeper also includes Record History, which allows you to review previous versions of a saved record and restore an earlier version when necessary.
These features can be useful when:
- You accidentally delete a saved password.
- You overwrite a password with an incorrect value.
- You need to review an earlier version of a record.
- You accidentally change a username or website address.
- A record disappears from a shared folder.
- You need to recover information after an unintended edit.
This guide explains how to use Keeper’s recovery features safely.
Before You Begin:
- Make sure you have access to your Keeper account.
- Sign in using your organization’s approved authentication method.
- Confirm that your device is connected to the internet.
- Know the name of the missing or modified record.
- Make sure you are authorized to restore or modify the record.
Important: Recovery is not guaranteed. Permanently deleted records, changes outside the available record history, or items affected by organization-managed retention policies may not be recoverable.
Note: Keeper’s recovery features are available on supported paid accounts. Some features may be restricted by your organization’s administrator.
Understanding Keeper’s Recovery Features
Keeper provides several ways to recover information.
Deleted Items
Deleted Items contains eligible records and folders that have been removed from your vault.
You may be able to restore them without contacting an administrator.
Record History
Record History stores available previous versions of an existing record.
This allows you to review an earlier password, username, or other saved information.
Lost Access
Lost Access can contain records that you own but can no longer access through your normal vault organization.
If eligible, you may be able to add those records back to your vault.
Shared Folder Recovery
Keeper may allow authorized shared folder members to restore records that were removed from a shared folder.
Important: Each recovery feature has different requirements. A record missing from your normal vault is not necessarily deleted.
Windows or Mac — Recover a Deleted Password
Step 1: Open Keeper
- Open the Keeper desktop application or Web Vault.
- Sign in using your assigned account.
- Complete any required authentication.
- Wait for your vault to load.
Step 2: Open Deleted Items
- Locate the navigation menu.
- Select Deleted Items.
- Review the available deleted records and folders.
Step 3: Find the Deleted Record
- Locate the record you want to recover.
- Review its title and available information.
- Confirm that you have selected the correct record.
Note: If you recently deleted an entire folder, the affected records may have been deleted along with it.
Step 4: Restore the Record
- Select the deleted record.
- Click Restore.
- Confirm the action if prompted.
- Return to your vault.
- Search for the restored record.
Step 5: Verify the Information
- Open the recovered record.
- Review the username.
- Confirm the website address.
- Verify that the saved password is the one you expected.
- Test the login on the legitimate website if necessary.
Important: A restored password may be outdated if the actual website password was changed after the record was deleted.
Restoring a Keeper record does not change the password on the website itself.
How to Restore a Deleted Folder

Important: Restoring a folder does not automatically restore access permissions or records that were permanently removed.
Understanding Record History
Record History is useful when a saved password or another field has been changed accidentally.
For example:
- You have a working login saved in Keeper.
- Someone edits the record and enters an incorrect password.
- The incorrect password is saved.
- You can no longer use KeeperFill to sign in.
- You open Record History to review an earlier version of the record.
Record History can help you recover the previously saved value.
Important: An earlier saved password might no longer be valid on the actual website.
Only restore a previous password when you understand which credentials are currently valid.

How to Recover Records Removed From Shared Folders
Keeper may allow authorized shared folder members to restore recently deleted shared records.
Step 1: Open Shared Folder Recovery
- Sign in to Keeper.
- Open Deleted Items.
- Locate the Shared Folder Contents tab.
Step 2: Review the Available Records
- Find the record removed from the shared folder.
- Verify its title and the appropriate shared folder.
- Confirm that your account still has authorized access to the folder.
Step 3: Restore the Record
- Select the record.
- Choose the available restoration option.
- Confirm the action.
- Check the shared folder.
Important: If the record was modified after being removed from the shared folder, Keeper may prevent its restoration through this method.
In that situation, the original record owner may need to share the record again.
Note: Shared folder recovery depends on the record’s ownership, sharing status, and your organization’s security policies.
Understanding Delete Forever
Keeper may provide a Delete Forever option inside Deleted Items.
This action permanently purges selected records from the available deleted items.
Important: Do not select Delete Forever when attempting to recover information.
If a record has already been permanently purged, it may not be recoverable through normal user tools.
Your organization may restrict permanent deletion through Keeper’s data retention policies.
If you need assistance with permanently removed business records, contact True Synergy Networks.
What to Do if a Restored Password Does Not Work
Sometimes a recovered record contains an older password that is no longer valid.
Step 1: Check the Website
- Open the legitimate website.
- Confirm that the username is correct.
- Verify that you are using the intended account.
Step 2: Review the Password History
- Open the Keeper record.
- Review Record History.
- Identify whether another version contains a more recent password.
- Avoid repeatedly guessing credentials.
Step 3: Resolve the Login
If the password is still incorrect:
- Follow the website’s approved account recovery or password change procedure when authorized.
- Contact True Synergy Networks for organization-managed accounts.
- Save the correct password in Keeper after access is restored.
Important: Record History is a history of information saved in Keeper, not a history of all actual password changes performed on the website.
