How to Use KeeperFill to Automatically Sign In to Websites and Applications

Applies to: Windows 10/11, macOS, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, iPhone, iPad, and Android
Difficulty: Beginner
Estimated Time: 5–10 minutes

Overview

KeeperFill is the autofill feature included with Keeper Password Manager. It allows you to securely fill saved usernames, passwords, passkeys, and supported verification codes into websites and applications. Instead of manually typing or copying your password every time you sign in, KeeperFill can locate the appropriate record in your encrypted Keeper Vault and help you complete the login process. KeeperFill is available as a browser extension for computers and as an autofill service for supported mobile devices. This guide explains how to enable KeeperFill, automatically sign in to websites, choose between multiple saved accounts, save new credentials, and troubleshoot common autofill problems.

Before You Begin:

  • Make sure you have an active Keeper account.
  • Sign in using your organization’s approved authentication method.
  • Confirm that KeeperFill is installed or enabled.
  • Verify that your device is connected to the internet.
  • Make sure the website or application you want to access has a saved record in Keeper.
  • Use only browsers and devices approved by your organization.

Important: KeeperFill is designed to fill credentials into supported websites and applications. It does not automatically grant access to accounts or replace your organization’s multifactor authentication requirements.

Understanding How KeeperFill Works

When you visit a website, KeeperFill checks whether your Keeper Vault contains a matching login record.

If a matching record is available, KeeperFill can offer to fill the saved username and password.

For example:

  1. You open your company’s customer portal.
  2. KeeperFill recognizes the website.
  3. You select the matching Keeper record.
  4. KeeperFill enters your saved credentials.
  5. You complete any required authentication.

Depending on your settings, KeeperFill may also automatically submit the login form.

Important: Always verify that you are visiting the legitimate website before selecting a record.

KeeperFill reduces manual typing, but you should still review the website address before signing in.

Windows or Mac — Sign In Using KeeperFill

Step 1: Open Your Browser

  1. Open Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, or another supported browser.
  2. Confirm that the KeeperFill extension is installed.
  3. Locate the Keeper icon in your browser toolbar.

Note: If KeeperFill is managed by True Synergy Networks, the extension may already be installed automatically.

Step 2: Unlock KeeperFill

  1. Click the Keeper icon.
  2. Enter your assigned work email address if prompted.
  3. Complete your organization’s Single Sign-On or Master Password authentication.
  4. Approve any legitimate authentication or device verification request.
  5. Confirm that your Keeper records appear.

Note: Your organization may use Microsoft 365 Single Sign-On instead of a separate Keeper Master Password.

Step 3: Open the Website

  1. Navigate to the website you want to access.
  2. Confirm that the address is correct.
  3. Locate the username and password fields.

Step 4: Select a Saved Login

  1. Click the Keeper icon in the login field or the browser toolbar.
  2. Review the suggested Keeper records.
  3. Select the correct account.
  4. Click Autofill, Fill, or the available control.

KeeperFill should enter your saved username and password.

Step 5: Complete Sign-In

  1. Verify that the intended username was selected.
  2. Click the website’s Sign In button if KeeperFill has not already submitted the form.
  3. Complete any required multifactor authentication.
  4. Confirm that your account opens successfully.

Important: Only approve multifactor authentication requests that you initiated.

How to Sign In When Multiple Accounts Are Saved

You may have several Keeper records for the same website.

For example:

  • Your individual employee account.
  • An authorized administrator account.
  • A separate customer or test account.

KeeperFill can display several matching records for the same website.

Step 1: Open the Website

  1. Navigate to the correct login page.
  2. Click the Keeper icon.
  3. Review the available suggested records.

Step 2: Choose the Correct Account

  1. Review the saved usernames and record titles.
  2. Select the intended account.
  3. Click Autofill.
  4. Confirm the username before signing in.

Important: Do not use another employee’s account or a privileged account unless you are specifically authorized to do so.

Tip: Give each Keeper record a descriptive title so it is easy to distinguish accounts.

How to Find a Login That Is Not Suggested

If KeeperFill does not automatically show the record you need, you can search your vault.

Step 1: Open KeeperFill

  1. Click the Keeper icon in your browser toolbar.
  2. Unlock Keeper if prompted.

Step 2: Search

  1. Click the search field.
  2. Enter the website name, record title, or username.
  3. Review the matching records.
  4. Select the correct record.

Step 3: Fill the Login

  1. Confirm that the record belongs to the intended website.
  2. Select Autofill.
  3. Review the populated fields.
  4. Complete sign-in.

Note: A missing suggested record may indicate that the saved website address does not match the page you are visiting.

How to Correct a Website Address in Keeper

KeeperFill uses saved website addresses to identify matching records.

If the website address in a record is missing or incorrect, KeeperFill may not suggest it.

Step 1: Open the Record

  1. Open your Keeper Vault.
  2. Search for the affected login.
  3. Select the record.
  4. Click Edit.

Step 2: Check the Website Field

  1. Locate the website address.
  2. Compare it with the legitimate login page.
  3. Correct the address if necessary.
  4. Save your changes.

Step 3: Test KeeperFill

  1. Return to the website.
  2. Refresh the login page.
  3. Open KeeperFill.
  4. Confirm that the record appears.

Note: Keeper supports multiple website addresses on eligible records, which can be useful when an authorized service has several legitimate login domains.

Important: Only add verified website addresses. Adding an unfamiliar domain to a login record may increase the risk of filling credentials into the wrong website.

How to Automatically Save a New Website Login

KeeperFill can offer to save new credentials when you sign in to a website.

Step 1: Open the Website

  1. Navigate to the legitimate website.
  2. Enter your username and password manually.
  3. Sign in.

Step 2: Review the Keeper Prompt

If KeeperFill detects credentials that are not already saved, it may display a save prompt.

  1. Review the suggested record title.
  2. Confirm the username.
  3. Verify the website address.
  4. Select Save.

Step 3: Verify the Record

  1. Open your Keeper Vault.
  2. Search for the website.
  3. Open the new record.
  4. Confirm that the username and website address are correct.

Important: Do not assume the credentials have been saved until you verify the record.

Note: Organizations can manage whether automatic save prompts are enabled.

How to Update a Password Using KeeperFill

When you change a password on a website, KeeperFill may offer to update the saved Keeper record.

Step 1: Open the Website’s Password Settings

  1. Sign in to the website.
  2. Navigate to its account security or password settings.
  3. Follow the website’s password change procedure.

Step 2: Create the New Password

  1. Open KeeperFill’s password generator if available.
  2. Generate a strong, unique password.
  3. Enter the new password in the website’s required fields.
  4. Submit the password change.

Step 3: Update the Saved Record

  1. Review any KeeperFill prompt offering to update the saved password.
  2. Confirm that the correct record is selected.
  3. Save the updated credentials.
  4. Open Keeper to verify the change.

Important: A password change is not complete until the website has accepted the new password and your Keeper record contains the correct value.

If KeeperFill does not offer to update the record, edit it manually.

How to Enable or Disable Automatic Filling

KeeperFill offers optional autofill settings for supported records.

Step 1: Open KeeperFill

  1. Click the Keeper icon.
  2. Unlock your vault.
  3. Open the intended record.

Step 2: Review Autofill Settings

Depending on the extension version, you may see:

  • Autofill on Page Load
  • Autosubmit After Autofill
  • Other record-specific autofill options

Autofill on Page Load

Automatically fills an eligible record when the matching website opens.

Autosubmit After Autofill

Automatically submits the website’s login form after filling credentials.

Recommendation: Manual selection is a sensible default for accounts where you need to choose between several usernames or confirm the website before signing in.

Important: Automatic submission does not eliminate multifactor authentication or other security requirements.

Your organization may restrict certain autofill settings.

How to Use KeeperFill With Two-Factor Authentication

Some Keeper records can securely store supported time-based one-time password codes, also called TOTP codes.

If your organization permits storing a site’s TOTP secret in Keeper:

  1. Open the website’s login page.
  2. Use KeeperFill to enter your username and password.
  3. Continue to the verification screen.
  4. Select the available Keeper code if offered.
  5. Complete the authentication process.

Note: Some websites and authentication methods do not support automatic code filling.

Important: Your organization may require Microsoft Authenticator, a hardware security key, or another separate authentication method. Do not move or duplicate MFA credentials into Keeper unless approved.
