With Google Drive, you can open documents from different devices, collaborate with coworkers, and keep your files updated automatically. This guide explains how to access Google Drive online, install Google Drive for desktop, sign in with your work account, and access your files on mobile devices.

Understanding Google Drive Synchronization

Google Drive for desktop supports different ways to access and synchronize files.

Stream Files

Streaming keeps most files stored in Google Drive’s cloud storage rather than downloading everything to your computer.

Benefits:

  • Uses less space on your computer.
  • Lets you browse cloud files through File Explorer or Finder.
  • Downloads file content when needed.
  • Keeps supported changes synchronized across devices.

Note: An internet connection is generally required to access files that have not been made available offline.

Mirror Files

Mirroring stores copies of files both on your computer and in Google Drive.

Benefits:

  • Files are available offline.
  • Changes synchronize when your computer reconnects.
  • Your computer maintains local copies of mirrored files.

Important: Mirroring can require a significant amount of computer storage. If True Synergy Networks manages your device, do not change synchronization modes or choose new folders to back up without contacting support. Changes may affect storage usage, file availability, and organizational backup requirements.
Recommendation: For most users, streaming is a practical option because it provides access to files without downloading an entire Google Drive.
